A B O U T

Ventnor Film Society has been in existence since 2005. Our aim is to bring recent world films which would otherwise get only a limited commercial screening to a community audience. We are pleased to contribute to the rich cultural life of Ventnor and the Isle of Wight by showing acclaimed films both in English and foreign languages with subtitles. Ventnor Film Society is run by local volunteers and we welcome all comers to our films, be they local residents or visitors. There is no membership; some viewers attend the whole season, others just pop in for a film they fancy.

Following our successful 2023 season, we are continuing matinée performances for all our films at 2.30pm; the bar will be open for drinks, teas and coffees and ice-creams will be served for an afternoon treat!

Subititles:

All our foreign language films are shown with English subtitles and English language films can also be subtitled if required.

Booking:

Ventnor Film Society has an Autumn and a Spring season and meets fortnightly, normally on Tuesdays, at Ventnor Arts Club, although membership of the Ventnor Arts Club is not required to attend our films. Entrance is £6, paid in cash on the door, and booking is advisable; seats can be reserved by emailing ventnorfilmsociety@hotmail.com. We are unable to accept card payments. Drop us an email and we'll add you to our mailing list for future bookings and film details. Films begin at 2.30 and 7.30pm prompt and latecomers will not be admitted. Films are available for booking from the day following each film. Our capacity is limited so if you cannot attend a film that you have booked, please email us to let us know before midday on the day so that your seat can be given to another viewer, as there is sometimes a waiting list.

Doors open at 1.45/6.30pm and a bar is available before and after the film. Please arrive in good time if you wish to order drinks, so that films can start on time.

Ventnor Arts Club:

Ventnor Arts Club opened as a members club in February 2013, for people interested in the arts to relax over a drink and enjoy a film, music and other regular events. The club is situated in a former bank, elegantly restored to include the benefits of comfortable seating, HD cinema projection and surround sound. As well as hosting the Ventnor Film Society, the club screens films every week for its own members. The Club is equipped for live streaming and shows the full programme of live events from the Royal Ballet, RSC, National Theatre and opera from the Royal Opera House and New York Metropolitan Opera House.
